Today we had to cross-pollinate our plants! We used a deceased bee on a stick to transfer the pollen to the flowers on another plant! Our fast plants are growing very well and we are looking forward to harvesting the seeds that the produce! Your student will be bringing home their very own deceased bee tonight! They will have the bee in a ziplock bag. Ask your student if they can tell you the parts of the bee! ( If they get stuck, remind them of the tune of "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.")

Math Test
Our unit 9 math test and pretest will be coming home tonight in the SPACE folders. The purple test was the pretest taken prior to starting the unit, and the white one is the final test we took yesterday after finishing unit 9. The circled problems labeled RSA are the problems in which were graded on the test. These were the problems that we learned how to solve in unit 9 and were ready to be tested on.
After we put our scores into our data folders, we took a few minutes to do something new with our test. In addition to going over the test, we looked at the problems we missed and decided if it was a S or a NP. An S is a silly mistake, maybe we knew how to do it and wrote down the wrong answer. It could also be that we did not pay attention to the directions! A NP is a need to practice. This would be something we do not understand how to do still and need to practice some more.
If you have any questions, please let me know. I am hoping that through doing this, students will learn to be more observant of what they are doing in the tests and have the opportunity to reflect on the growth they made from the pretest to the final test!

Field Trip
Hello!
I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of 3Y! Despite the weather we were able to go on our field trip! Students were very well behaved and did a very nice job adjusting to new plans to accommodate the rainy weather and stations we were rotating through.
A HUGE thank you to the parents that came along and helped out with the trip! Thank you for lending us your time, patience, and providing your own transportation!
Thank you to ALL parents for having your students here on time and ready to go!
This trip was a huge success and I am happy that I had the opportunity to spend the day at Marr Part with these students!
Have a great weekend!

Math Homework
Hello!
In class we have been working on learning different multiplication methods. We have been learning the Partial-Product Method and the Lattice Method. If you are anything like me, the first time I saw this I was wondering what in the world was going on! :) I figured it might be helpful if I sent a couple how-to videos home so that you can help with homework if needed! As always, feel free to contact me with any questions at all!

Identifying Parts of a Lima Bean!
Today in Science we investigated the parts of a lima bean! We got to make observations about beans that were dry, and we also got to make observations about beans that had been soaked in water overnight!
