Dear
Parents and/or Guardians,
I
recently had the opportunity to travel to Phoenix, Arizona to attend a
Professional Learning Communities Summit.
Professional Learning Communities, or PLC, is an ongoing process in
which educators work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry
and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve. SO what does that actually mean? PLC is a process where teachers are working
together to ensure every student is learning at high levels.
This
was an amazing experience and I obtained a lot of information, but the main
thing I brought back to share with my students was three sentences.
1. You are important.
2. You can do it.
3. I won’t give up on you.
I
have discussed these with my class and have posted them on the wall so that
they can all see them everyday. I
explained to the students that I simply care way to much about them to see them
doing any less than their best and that I am here no matter what to help them
achieve this. They are important and therefore what they do is important, which means
school is important!
I
am extremely thankful that I get to spend my days with your children and that I
get the opportunity to help teach them so that they can become successful and
ambitious adults. I take this seriously
and want to provide them with the same education I would want for my own
daughter.
I just want to end this with saying thank you
for letting me be a part of your child’s life, and thank you for all you do at
home!
-Mrs.
