This Week In 3Y!

Hello!

We had a busy week in 3Y!  On Monday we celebrated having 10 days where we earned 100 points or more as a class on class dojo!  We wore pajamas and Homer came to visit!  We wrapped up unit 3 in math and took our test!  Our class average was 32% on the pre-test.....it was 85% on the post-test!  WOW!!!  We are brilliant! :)  We also worked on sorting words into two categories, consonant-y and vowel-y!  In reading we are working on identifying character traits and supporting them with details from the text.  We have also been working on visualizing ourselves in the text!

Today we celebrated Fall!  We munched on our snacks, made a pumpkin craft and watched a movie about a square pumpkin!  Mrs. Young even brought in a special drink for us called "Formula 86", it was a lot like the potion the witches used in our read aloud book to turn children into mice....(They will have to wait and see if they wake up as mice. If they do not it might have just been green apple kool-aid!)

Here are some pictures of 3Y in their jammies and a couple from our Fall Party!

3rd Grade Reward

Hello!

The third graders in 3Y have earned another whole class reward for having 10 days with more than 100 dojo points!  We have discussed, voted and made many compelling arguments about what we should do.  We have settled on wearing pajamas and having my dog Homer come visit again!

So on Monday October 27th we will pajama/dog day! :)

I apologize in advance for any laundry this may cause you to have to do!  (I am already hearing which pajamas they want to wear!)

Have a great night and thank you for your cooperation!

Sorting -ed Ending Words!

We have started to sort words with small groups!  We are working on sorting words based on the rule they follow when we have to add an -ed ending!  Some words do not change, some words drop the final e, and some words double the consonant!  We did a great job working on these sorts with our groups!

Book-it Begins Tonight!

Hello,

Book-it calendars will be coming home tonight in your child's homework folder.  Attached will be a letter on how we will be using this in third grade.  Each night your student will be expected to read 20 minutes in addition to their math homework.  I will explain this to the students today so they will know what to do when they get home!  20 minutes of reading a night can make a tremendous difference in becoming a better reader!
