Google Presentations

With the help of Mr. Slabaugh, we created google presentations about animals we had researched.  Students worked very hard and had to collaborate with their partners to create their presentation!  Third grade did a wonderful job!  Ask your student about how they made their presentation!

Could Your Dog Eat Your Homework?

Today we were working on figuring out if things were fantasy or realism!  We had to sort the deck of cards into these two categories!  We decided that things like dogs doing homework, pet dragons, and dogs taking over cities were definitely fantasy!  Some things under the realism category were drinking milk with cookies, having a comfortable couch, and liking to eat burgers!

Laura Day!

We had a great day in third grade for Laura Day!  We made bread, applesauce, and pumpkin pudding!  We also were able to weave, make tin punch ornaments, and quilting ornaments!  A big thank you to everyone who helped make this day a success!

Love, Maya

Fluency

I have been pulling students to the reading table individually and recording them read.  After this, the student and I listen to the reading and they "grade" themselves on how well they are reading orally. (See picture.)

Students are working on 4 main areas:

Rate- Are they reading too fast, too slow, or just right.
Expression-  Are they using a nice expressive voice when reading.
Accuracy-  Are they reading the words on the page just like they see them.
Punctuation-  Are they paying attention to punctuation and pausing or emphasizing appropriately.

Students are setting a goal in one of these areas to work on.  Ask your student which one they picked!  We will be practicing and rerecording to see how far we have come!
